GOOD FOR FLAT WASH, BAD FOR VARIEGATED WASH
It is a good medium if one wants to achieve an even flat wash. It feels oily but mixes with water. However when water is added to the mixture during painting it behaves as water repellant for a second or two, therefore it is useless for graduated or variegated wash as lighter streaks are appearing while painting variegated or graduated washes. It gets rid of sharp edges of paint strokes but at the same time it is impossible to paint a smooth graduated wash with it . The most important thing : do not use it on gummed pads!!!! It is a harsh chemical that goes/runs through the sheets of papers of gummed pads , the effect is devastating : the sheets underneath your paintings get stains on the edges, 3 sheets my Fabriano papers in the gummed pad got stained v badly, I was able to lift the stain from the 4th and the 5th... Probably good medium to paint rainy, dark clouds with though.
